Spring 2024 Scientific board meeting

The Spring session of the scientific board was held this Tuesday 14th May 2024 in Paris. Scientists and clinicians arrived early to start the meeting at 10am. They were 17 on site and 6 participating online. Arriving from France, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal and Spain, it was the first meeting of 10 new members. A day rich in discussions and scientific debates.
This call for projects, dedicated to Down syndrome and other intellectual deficiencies from genetic origin, received 86 projects! An evidence of the growing need for financing research and of the role of the Fondation Lejeune in this research area. The projects were distributed earlier in March to members of the scientific board for review, evaluating scientific excellence, innovation, feasibility of the project and quality of the team among other criteria.
Tuesday, a list of the best ranked projects was established and some were put on the additional list in case of additional funds. Scores of selected projects were not below 4.6/5, reflect of their scientific excellence evidenced by the experts.
The results are still awaiting the final approval by the administrative board of the Fondation Lejeune before summer. The Fondation Jérôme Lejeune is thankful for the precious help of the experts and proud to support high quality projects thanks to all its donors.
